The role of traditional religions in Africa plays a key role in formulating and transmitting cultures that bind a community. In this piece, the discourse is around the understanding of the role that traditional medicine plays as it relates to western medicines. As I read, the scientific community’s understanding is that traditional beliefs must be reconciled with science in a way that the former is medicine for the spirit while the latter is medicine for the body.
