Installation work by: Imke Rust 'Circle of Life' 2019

Created to address the stigma associated with patients of NTD's. The piece echoes fear, loneliness, and isolation. Even in cases of full recovery, the remnant of stigmatization still has an impact on the individual. In the context of Africa, some choose to live away from their communities or hide away from public reaction to their ailments. All of which also leads to psychological impact, resulting in depression, insecurity, anxiety, and other mental conditions. Hence, human suffering is not only in the physical, but also in our hearts.
